McKinsey research has shown that news consumption in the UK has risen by 20% since 2006. The drivers of this increased news consumption are under 35 year olds. This age group preferred to get their news from television and the Internet.
The Federal Communications Commission released the National Broadband Plan for the United States last week. The plan involves providing 100 million US households with 100 mbps broadband by 2020. Rather than a Government funded rollout the majority of new broadband services will be offered over wireless spectrum which will be auctioned by the Government.
Research from Nielsen has revealed that Australian's spent an average of 6.25 hours per month using social media in February 2010. Australia topped the U.S., U.K., Spain, Brazil, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan for the average time on site. Unique audience to social networks also grew over the year by nearly 30% with Facebook drawing the largest active unique global audience.
