Online advertising set to overtake other forms of media by 2014

The recently released Entertainment and Media Outlook 2010-2014 from PriceWaterhouseCoopers forecasts that online ad spend will dominate other media by 2014.  The report predicted that the Australian online advertising sector would be worth about $10.6bn in 2014.

iiNet IPTV available by end of June

iiNet's Chief Executive, Michael Malone has announced that the launch of IPTV services would occur before the end of this month.  iiNet has teamed up with Fetch TV to offer the IPTV service to Australian consumers.

News consumption up by 20% in the UK

McKinsey research has shown that news consumption in the UK has risen by 20% since 2006.  The drivers of this increased news consumption are under 35 year olds.  This age group preferred to get their news from television and the Internet. 


Online ad spend in the US set to overtake print for the first time in 2010

A report from marketing analysts Outsell forecasts that US marketers will spend $119.6 bn on digital strategies and $111.5 bn on print in 2010.  The research follows similar statistics from the UK that showed online ad spend surpassing television for the first time in 2009.

Joanne Ryan, Managing Director
 
 
 
 
 
Joanne Ryan is the Managing Director of Infodec Pty Ltd. She has extensive experience working in the media industry in Australia.
She worked for several years in media marketing and editorial departments, gaining inside knowledge of how to effectively communicate with the media.
 
She also worked for several years as a Corporate Development Advisor with News Limited. During that time she researched and advised on a vast number of regulatory and policy issues affecting News Limited nationally and News Corporation on a global scale. She also represented the organisation to Government and was a member of a number of industry committees including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Intellectual Property consultative group.
 
Policy areas of expertise include media ownership, anti-siphoning, the Do Not Call Register, industrial relations, intellectual property and the Australia USA Free Trade agreement. 

Joanne also worked as a Senior Researcher with the Network Insight Institute on the future communications policy matrix. This project expanded her knowledge of policy and regulatory issues affecting the communications sector on a global scale.

As well as running Infodec, Joanne is a volunteer mentor for the INSPIRE Mentoring Program for young people. This program, run by ShireWide youth services and supported by the Department of Juvenile Justice NSW, involves meeting a young person on a weekly basis to provide guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.

Joanne's formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) and a Master of International Studies from the University of Sydney.
