Many NFPs now rise or fall depending on their success at securing grants offered by federal, state or local government. Revenue from government [including grants] represents around half of the revenue in Australia’s charity sector (51% in 2022).
Your organisation may face intense competition from other NFPs to attract the available government funding, but being ‘grant ready’ will give your organisation the winning edge.
Your Grant Readiness Assessment Plan
Grant readiness means being prepared to describe your organisation’s value and unique selling points, devise a suitable project and explain its aims succinctly. It also means demonstrating the organisation’s capacity to compile realistic budgets and, when successful, manage the budgeting and acquittals phases with competence.
Take the time to get prepared now and analyse what your organisation needs for successful grant applications.
Completing this preparation phase will make it easier to apply for subsequent grant rounds – and ensure you don’t miss great funding opportunities simply because the organisation is pressed for time and under-prepared.
